Denim with a twist

It’s everywhere! Everybody has a pair or two. 90% of the times we revert back to it when we don’t have anything to wear. It can be paired with anything. Dressed down or up , we can do anything with it. There’s one for every mood. There is no right or wrong way of wearing it. Has so many shades to it grey, blue, indigo, white, black. Revamps itself every season , ripped, over-sized , in footwear, dresses, chokers, shirts and skirts.  You should have guessed by now, whats that thing I am talking about. Its Denim!

Male or a female , we all own a piece of denim. I myself have it in the form of a dress, a bag, a skirt, a shirt,a jacket, a choker…  Okay, so basically in every form possible. It’s comfort clothing . Even a rescuer,  when we end up with a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear!!!

Nothing can replace denims in our lives. I remember wearing boy jeans when I was very young because my father would be posted in some small town in some corner of the country and that’s all that you would find there. But I don’t mind , I think I kinda looked cute in them 😀 . I still wear my brother’s jeans that he din’t want anymore. Its over-sized , and has a boyfriend fit to it. That’s when I thought why go to a store and buy one when i already have one at home. I love raiding my father’s and brother’s wardrobes for comfortable clothes.I found this shirt on one of those raiding sessions , grey in color with some texture to it, denim, but too large for me to wear it normally.

Instantly I knew I had to think out of the box to still be able to wear it. And that’s how I came up with this look.

Denim on Denim

Here I have turned the shirt around and worn the backside in front, I also pulled the sleeves up and folded them just half way over the cuffs (took the idea from men’s styling). Then gathered the shirt’s hem from both sides and tied it on the back. I have paired this shirt with my favorite blue jeans and white sneakers. You can even wear your favorite pair of stilettos or even heeled ankle length boots. And to bring out the whole look I just added a silver neck-piece and also a silver sling bag(street shopping artifact 😉 ). I kept my hair loose with soft curls but you could even make a messy updo , best for this humid rainy season to come.

One more tip, since denims can become heavy and too thick sometimes you can opt for chambray shirts this season as they give the same look yet are more light ,airy and breathable.
